BULGARIA CELEBRATES EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS IN SEPTEMBER

  With over 200 events across the country, Bulgaria will once again participate in the European Heritage Days (EHD) in 2022 under the theme “Europe, a common heritage”.

  Every year in September, the 50 signatory countries of the European Cultural Convention participate in the EHD, a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission. More than 20 million European citizens take part, making the Days the largest and most shared cultural event not only in Europe but also worldwide. For more than 25 years now, the EDNs have brought together people from countries across Europe as a big family with one idea: to get to know and appreciate their heritage, to feel the bonds it has created between European peoples.

MINISTER MINEKOV PARTICIPATED IN THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE TWELFTH EDITION OF THE NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF FOLK ART IN KOPRIVSHTITSA

  The Minister of Culture prof. Veislav Minekov participated in the opening ceremony of the twelfth edition of the National Folk Art Festival in Koprivshtitsa. Among the official guests of the event under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev were the Deputy Ministers of Culture Prof. Borislava Taneva and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Plamen Slavov.

UNESCO RENEWED ITS OFFICIAL RELATIONS WITH THE “13 CENTURIES OF BULGARIA” NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FUND

  In a letter dated 25 July 2022, Jean Yves Le Saux, Director of UNESCO’s Bureau for Strategic Planning, confirms on behalf of the Director-General of the Organization that official relations with the “13 Centuries of Bulgaria” National Endowment Fund have been renewed until 2027.

MINISTER OF CULTURE PROF. VEISLAV MINEKOV OFFICIALLY TOOK OFFICE

  At a brief succession ceremony today, 2 August 2022, at the Ministry of Culture, the new Minister of Culture, Prof. Velislav Minekov took over from the outgoing Atanas Atanasov. The event was attended by representatives of the political cabinets of Atanas Atanasov and prof. Velislav Minekov, as well as directors of directorates in the cultural department.

  “I am returning to a place that is familiar to me – with all the worries I am capable of, but I hope to continue the change,” said Prof. Minekov.

THE DRAFT CULTURAL COOPERATION PROGRAMME WITH VIETNAM IS APPROVED

  The Council of Ministers adopted a decision approving the draft programme for cultural cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the period 2022-2025.

  The Council of Ministers adopted a decision approving a draft programme for cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia in the field of culture for the period 2022-2025.
