About
The Bulgarian Institute of Culture (BIC) in Prague has long-standing traditions. It was established in 1948, but the official Inter-government Treaty on the activities of the Cultural and Information Centres in Sofia and in Prague, was signed on 10.04.1978 and renewed on 03.07.1981.
Since 21.03.2007 BIC in Prague has new premises, located in the heart of the Czech capital – District of Prague 1, 6 Klimentska Street. Apart from the multifunctional hall of the Art Gallery, where there could be presented exhibitions of any kind, given chamber music concerts, mono-spectacles, shown movies, organised literary readings and meetings with authors, scientific conferences and other cultural events, the new cultural centre also includes library and offices. All this offers excellent conditions for work and expansion of the Institute’s activity, for which also contribute the god business relations with various Czech and international institutions and organisations, as well as the cooperation with the civil associations of the Bulgarians in the Czech Republic. BIC’s central location helps satisfying the increased interest in its events on the part of the other foreign Institutes of Culture in the Czech capital, particularly of the European Union member-states, with which joint projects are carried out.
