“THE MUSEUM IS NOT SIMPLY A PLACE WHERE WE HANG PICTURES – IT IS ALSO A PLACE WHERE WE KEEP THE MEMORY OF A COUNTRY AND THIS CARRIES THE IDENTITY OF A NATION”, MINISTER VEZHDI RASHIDOV SAID AT THE OPENING OF THE REPRESENTATIVE EXHIBITION AT THE NATIONAL GALLERY “SQUARE 500”

   The new National Gallery “Square 500” in Sofia was officially opened today at a ceremony attended by the Vice President Margarita Popova, the Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, the Deputy Prime Ministers Rumyana Bachvarova and Tomislav Donchev, almost all the Ministers from the cabinet, members of Parliament, ambassadors, including those of the USA, Russia, Greece and Japan, as well as many reputable artists, art critics, public figures, journalists, etc.

VEZHDI RASHIDOV AND FLEUR PELLERIN SIGNED IN PARIS A DECLARATION FOR PROTECTION OF COPYRIGHT AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

   The Bulgarian Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov and Fleur Pellerin – Minister of Culture and Communications of France signed today in Paris a joint Declaration for protection of copyright and cultural heritage. This took place in the building of the French Ministry of Culture during a workshop between the two ministers which was also attended by Polina Karastoyanova, Chairman of the Culture and Media Commission with the National Assembly, the French Ambassador in Bulgaria Xavier Lapeyere de Cabanes and the members of both delegations.

BY THE END OF OCTOBER 2015 THE LARGE-SCALE PROJECT “SERDICA ANCIENT CULTURAL AND COMMUNICATION COMPLEX” WILL BE COMPLETED

   The start of the final stage of the implementation of the project was attended today by the Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov, the Mayor of the Sofia Municipality Yordanka Fandakova, the Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova and the Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov.

VEZHDI RASHIDOV WAS ONE OF THE FIRST EU MINISTERS OF CULTURE TO SUPPORT A DECLARATION PROTECTING THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF ARTISTIC EXPRESSION AND CREATIVITY

   Minister Vezhdi Rashidov was one of the first Ministers of Culture of the European Union who supported a collective declaration protecting the freedom of artistic expression and creativity on the day of the demonstration in Paris provoked by the terrorist attack against the satirical magazine “Charlie Hebdo”.

VEZHDI RASHIDOV SIGNED IN PARIS THE AGREEMENT FOR THE FIRST IN HISTORY BULGARIAN EXHIBITION IN THE LOUVRE

   “Bulgaria is lucky to have a minister like Vezhdi Rashidov”. With these words Dr. Jean-Luc Martinez – President of the Louvre welcomed in his office in the late Thursday evening the Bulgarian Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov. They both signed the official agreement for the exhibition of the Thracian treasures at the Louvre which will be opened on 15 April 2015 and will continue for three months.
