THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE SUPPORTS MEDIA LITERACY DAYS – 2021

  For the fourth consecutive year, the Media Literacy Coalition (MLC) organizes the campaign Media Literacy Days. Through a series of events and initiatives, the coalition puts on the agenda the importance and necessity of developing media literacy for citizens of all ages.

 The campaign is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Small Grants Program of the US Embassy in Bulgaria, the America for Bulgaria Foundation, UNICEF – Bulgaria, TechSoup Europe and Funky Citizens.

THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF SOFIA FILM FEST WILL TAKE PLACE ON 11 MARCH IN HALL 1 OF THE NATIONAL PALACE OF CULTURE

At the opening ceremony, the Sofia Award will be presented to the outstanding musician, film and theatre composer Teodosiy Spasov for his contribution to the art of cinema and music

   The Sofia Film Fest international film festival is preparing for its 25th anniversary. The film festival started as a thematic festival of cinema and music and has evolved over the years to become one of the most significant film events in Central and Eastern Europe, the only Bulgarian film festival with FIAPF accreditation, included in the list of the 50 most important film festivals in the world and in FIPRESCI-s calendar.

THE PROJECT FOR COOPERATION WITH THE CHINESE MINISTRY OF CULTURE IS APPROVED

The Council of Ministers approved the draft Programme for Cooperation in the Field of Culture between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People-s Republic of China for the period 2021 – 2024.

MINISTER BANOV: CULTURE AND ART HAVE ALWAYS EMERGED STRONGER DURING ANY CRISIS, AND THE STATE HAS EXCLUSIVELY TAKEN CARE OF THE SECTOR

 “In the past, culture and art have suffered severe blows and have always emerged stronger, more powerful, more important and more fundamental to society. That-s what-s happening right now”. This is what the Minister of Culture Boil Banov said in a conversation at the studio of bTV-s TV programme “This Saturday” about the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on culture. Minister Banov spoke about the state-s support of artists from all sectors and fields of culture, confirming that as of 1 February visits to cinemas are allowed, as well as participation in creative, dance and music classes, if the establishments use 30% of the capacity of their premises and observe physical distance.

THE MANAGEMENT OF THE UNION OF AMATEUR ARTS ORGANIZATIONS THANKED MINISTER BANOV FOR THE GOOD DIALOGUE AND SUPPORT FOR THE SECTOR

  The management of the Union of Amateur Arts Organizations (UAAO) sent a thank-you letter to the Minister of Culture Boil Banov for the good dialogue and support for the sector. In their letter they thank him and the Director of the Performing Arts and Art Education Directorate Eliyanka Mihaylova for the meetings implemented so far, the last of which was on 26 January, and express hope that a smooth and gradual exit from the crisis will be made through mutually responsible actions. As a result of the discussions, the Minister of Health issued Order No. ĐÄ-01-52/26.01.2021, which allows visits to cinemas from 1 February, as well as participation in creative, dance and music classes, if the establishments use 30% of the capacity of their premises and observe physical distance.
