The Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov will open on January 5 /Tuesday/ 2010 at 18.00 p. m. in the refreshed “Sredets” Gallery of the Ministry of Culture the exhibition “Paintings by Atanas Yaranov /1940 - 1988/”. The paintings commemorating the occasion of the 70-th anniversary of the artist are selected from the private collection of Mr. Angel Simeonov. The works of Atanas Yaranov will be presented by the art critic Ruzha Marinska.

    At today's meeting, the Council of Ministers decided to grant to the Ministry of Culture funds amounting to 12.5 million leva for 2010 with which to reconstruct the buildings in the Square 500 in downtown Sofia and to build a modern museum center there. Square 500 includes a complex of buildings owned by the Ministry of Culture in the area between “V. Levski” Blvd. and the "Moskovska", "19 February" and "Oborishte” streets. Currently, they are not used.

    The traditional Christmas charity exhibition of the Ministry of Culture’s Art schools will be held from the 14th until the 20th of December this year. The official opening of the event will be on the 14th of December /Monday/ at 17.00 p. m. in the Sredets Gallery of the Ministry of Culture, which is the organizer of the event.

    The Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov and the Deputy Culture Minister Dimitar Dereliev will visit the set of the new Bulgarian movie "LOVE.NET" On 12 December /Saturday/ at 13.00 h.
   The location of the filming will be in a hall near the “Festivalna” Hall in Sofia - the former Academic Stadium 's Basketball Hall.

   The Ministry of Culture, together with the National Center for Safe Internet, organized a workshop titled: "Activities Of The Centers For A Safer Internet In Germany And Bulgaria", featuring Dr. Joachim Kind, a national expert in Germany on internet safety for children.

   On November 13, 2009 in the town of Vaasa, Finland, Bulgarian conductor Jordan Kamdzhalov won the first prize in the international music contest "Professor Jorma Panula".
